Healing may not be so much about getting better, as about letting go of everything that isn't you... and becoming who you are.

A recap of Dr. Hohmann's talk on Apheresis, a procedure that acts as a "deep clean" for your blood to help reset your body's natural detox systems.
A simple guide to reducing your daily "toxic load" with actionable tips for your diet, kitchen, and home to support your body's ability to heal.
Hey Everyone!
Earlier last week our friends at Buff Medical Resort gave a powerful presentation on the benefits of Apheresis. I know not everyone could make it so I thought I would share some of the incredible insight here. Dr. Claas Hohmann broke it down in a way that really clicked, and I want to share that with you.
Think of your body’s intricate network of blood vessels like a superhighway system, with your blood cells as the delivery trucks carrying oxygen and nutrients everywhere they need to go.
Over time, due to environmental toxins, stress, and the foods we eat, that highway can get congested with traffic jams of inflammatory proteins, harmful fats, and other metabolic "sludge."

Apheresis is like bringing in a crew to clear up that congestion. In the simplest terms, it’s a sophisticated filtration process. Blood is drawn from the body, sent through a special filter that separates the plasma (the liquid part of your blood), cleans out those specific harmful substances, and then returns the purified blood back to you.
Dr. Hohmann described it as a powerful "reset" button, a way to give your body’s own detoxification systems, like your liver and kidneys, a much-needed break so they can catch up and function more efficiently. It’s a deep clean on a cellular level, designed to reduce the body's inflammatory burden and help restore balance.

Hearing about powerful tools like this is exactly why our community exists, to share knowledge that empowers us. This is the kind of cutting-edge info we explore every day. Your Guide to a Daily “Deep Clean"
Dr. Hohmann’s talk got me thinking. While a major intervention like Apheresis can work wonders, what can we do every single day to prevent that "traffic jam" in the first place?
How can we lighten the load on our bodies so they can handle their own clean-up jobs more effectively?
It all comes down to reducing our toxic load, the cumulative burden of chemicals and stressors our bodies have to process.
Here’s a simple guide to get you started on your own daily deep clean.

1. Eat to Detoxify: Your plate is your most powerful tool. The goal is to maximize nutrient-dense, anti-inflammatory foods while minimizing things that add to the burden.
Go Organic & Whole: Prioritize organic fruits and vegetables to avoid pesticides. Focus on whole foods and things that don't come in a box with a long list of ingredients.
Eat the Rainbow: The vibrant colors in produce come from phytonutrients, which are powerful antioxidants that help your body neutralize toxins. Load up on leafy greens, berries, beets, and cruciferous veggies like broccoli and cauliflower.
Add "Smelly" Foods: Foods rich in sulfur, like garlic and onions, help your body produce its own master antioxidant, glutathione, which is critical for detoxification.

2. Detox Your Kitchen & Home: Toxins aren't just in our food, they're in our environment.
Ditch Plastic: Plastics can leach hormone-disrupting chemicals like BPA into your food, especially when heated. Swap plastic containers for glass or stainless steel. Never microwave food in plastic.
Clean Green: Many commercial cleaners are loaded with harsh chemicals. You can clean almost anything with simple, effective solutions made from white vinegar, baking soda, and a few drops of essential oil.
Filter Your Water: Tap water can contain heavy metals, chlorine, and other contaminants. Investing in a quality water filter for drinking and showering is a huge step in reducing your daily exposure.

3. Sweat It Out: Your skin is a major detoxification organ. Sweating is one of the body's best ways to push out toxins. Whether it's through brisk walking, a session in an infrared sauna, or a hot Epsom salt bath, making time to sweat regularly can significantly lighten your body’s load.
Taking these small, consistent steps can make a massive difference in how you feel. It's about creating a lifestyle that supports your body's incredible, innate ability to heal and thrive.
